Fewer third-graders could be held back for reading this school year, report says

Based on data from the Education Policy Innovation Center, about 5.6% of Michigan’s third graders were eligible to be held back due to low reading scores this school year. This percentage was lower pre-pandemic, at 4.1%, however this is the last group eligible to be held back under Michigan’s Read by Grade Three Law.
