Michigan Teacher Shortage Study: 2025 Report

January 2025

This is the fourth in a series of annual reports about teacher shortages in Michigan that the state legislature requested in December 2020 (2020 PA 316). Informed by our previous reports and newly available data from the 2023-24 school year, this report provides an updated view of teacher shortages throughout Michigan. The report shows recent growth in the supply of Michigan teachers, but continued challenges with turnover and matching teachers’ credentials with schools’ needs.

EPIC works with state and district partners to create a targeted research agenda to learn which reform strategies are most effective, where, when and for whom.
