More Michigan 3rd-graders struggled to read amid COVID, remote learning

More Michigan early elementary students are likely returning to school behind in reading than in past years.

An analysis of state reading scores by Education Policy Innovation Collaborative at Michigan State University found that a topsy-turvy pandemic school year caused more Michigan third-graders to struggle to read at grade level.
