Persistent literacy challenges: Michigan third-graders continue to grapple with reading proficiency

A new report from the Education Policy Innovation Collaborative finds that third-graders in this state continue to struggle with reading. Although the data is better than 2022, 5.6% of students are still not proficient and are eligible to repeat the third grade. This continues to be a higher percentage than prior to the pandemic.
