Trends in Special Education Identification During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Evidence From Michigan

This policy brief highlights findings from the accompanying working paper which investigates how the classification of new students with disabilities, and the discontinuation of services for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in place prior to the initial school building closures in spring 2020, progressed over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.

EPIC works with state and district partners to create a targeted research agenda to learn which reform strategies are most effective, where, when and for whom.
