John Westall

John Westall is a senior analyst at Abt Associates whose research interests are in the economics of education and labor economics. His research focuses on educator labor markets, the impacts of school principals, the long-run effects of education policies, and causal identification using school choice mechanisms. As part of his work with EPIC, Dr. Westall was part of the team evaluating Michigan’s Read by Grade Three Law. Dr. Westall earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in Economics at San Diego State University. Dr. Westall earned his Ph.D. in Economics from North Carolina State University. 

EPIC works with state and district partners to create a targeted research agenda to learn which reform strategies are most effective, where, when and for whom.
