Sophie Meuch is a doctoral student in Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on educator development, teacher mentoring in residency programs, and the ways teachers interact with instructional resources. Prior to her doctoral studies, Sophie worked as an Educator Development Specialist with Talent Together, where she supported the development and implementation of Michigan’s registered teacher apprenticeship and residency programs. In this role, she supported mentor and apprentice teacher development, contributed to statewide efforts to strengthen and diversify the educator workforce, and founded the Model Teacher Lab Program, a practice-based professional learning initiative for teachers and instructional leaders. Sophie has also worked as an independent education consultant and adjunct methods instructor at graduate and undergraduate levels. Earlier in her career, she was a founding teacher at an elementary school in East Los Angeles,  a Staff Developer and Coach in Southern California, and a teacher in Chicago. Her work has been recognized with the Harriett Ball Excellence in Teaching Award. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching and a bachelor’s degree in Political Communication from Emerson College.

EPIC works with state and district partners to create a targeted research agenda to learn which reform strategies are most effective, where, when and for whom.
