Remote learning ‘not sustainable,’ Whitmer says, praising schools for going back in person

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer isn’t mandating that schools reopen for in-person learning – that decision is left to local school boards – but she is “pleased” that 97% of traditional public districts will offer in-person learning by March 1. About 64% of Michigan districts offered in-person learning in January, but that surged to 83% for February. Those numbers include charter schools, while the 97% figure for March 1 does not.
