Students are academically recovering from the pandemic. Their test scores still haven’t

Though students have begun to recover academically from learning loss that occurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their test scores are continuing to lag from where they were before 2020.

That’s according to research data released earlier this week from Michigan State University’s Education Policy Innovation Collaborative (EPIC). Coming in the form of two reports released Oct. 17, the first of the dual studies monitored student’s achievement growth during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school year while the second delved into how schools and districts were supporting student learning.

EPIC works with state and district partners to create a targeted research agenda to learn which reform strategies are most effective, where, when and for whom.
