Third grade reading scores hit a record low in Michigan

Roughly 60% of Michigan third graders aren’t reading at a proficient level, according to results from the 2024 MSTEP. Eaton RESA plans to consider the results and work to identify challenges and ways to support its students. While Michigan has resources in place to support wrap-around support like universal pre-K, free lunches for all students, and and 35A literacy funds – there is still work to be done.
