What Michigan parents need to know about the ‘science of reading’

States are using the science of reading, or early literacy learning instruction that emphasizes phonics along while students build background knowledge and vocabulary. As the Education Policy Innovation Center explains, this instruction is beneficial for developing skills in all school subjects early.
