A Policy Brief From EPIC

Competency-Based Education in Michigan: Survey Findings

October 2022

This policy brief extends a previous analysis, Competency-Based Education in Michigan’s 21j Pilot Districts: An Early Analysis of Implementation and Innovation, to not only revisit how core CBE practices are being implemented after another year, but also to examine progress toward the intended intermediate and deeper learning outcomes.

Findings include:

  1. Teaching and Learning During the COVID-19 Pandemic
  2. Continued Implementation of Core CBE Practices
  3. Intermediate Educator Outcomes
  4. Intermediate Student Outcomes
  5. Deeper Learning

EPIC works with state and district partners to create a targeted research agenda to learn which reform strategies are most effective, where, when and for whom.
