Educators struggle to gauge learning growth — or loss — during pandemic

There is no question students in Michigan have lost time in the classroom during the pandemic, but does that necessarily mean they have lost learning?

The answer might never be clear, even to educators who are trying to gauge academic growth this school year by using local assessments on students who are in a mix of in-person and remote classes.
