Dr. John Papay is an Assistant Professor of Education and Economics at Brown University. He is an education policy scholar and an economist of education whose work analyzes how policies affect the educational outcomes of students, particularly those in urban school settings. His research focuses on teacher policy, teacher labor markets, and standards-based accountability. He is a Research Affiliate with the Project on the Next Generation of Teachers and Senior Fellow with the Tennessee Education Research Alliance. He is a former high school history teacher.

EPIC works with state and district partners to create a targeted research agenda to learn which reform strategies are most effective, where, when and for whom.
