Hayley Weddle

Hayley Weddle is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research addresses the equity implications of policy implementation across state and local levels. Across her work, Dr. Weddle focuses on developing meaningful and reciprocal partnerships between educational leaders, policymakers, and researchers. Her dissertation research, which has been published in Teachers College Record and Leadership and Policy in Schools, explored teacher collaboration as a pathway for capacity building in urban schools under pressure to improve. Building on this work, Dr. Weddle is currently interested in efforts to foster shared responsibility for multilingual learner education across schools, districts, and state education agencies.
In addition to her research, Dr. Weddle served as the 2019-2020 Student Regent on the University of California Board of Regents, representing undergraduate and graduate students across the UC system. In this role, she chaired the Regents Special Committee on Basic Needs, leading efforts to address food and housing insecurity. She holds an M.A. in Higher Education Leadership from San Diego State University and a Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Transforming Education in a Diverse Society from the University of California, San Diego.
