Marisa Fisher

Marisa Fisher is an Associate Professor of Special Education and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst- Doctoral in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Special Education. Her research and teaching focus on educational, social, and vocational outcomes of adolescents and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorder, Williams syndrome, and other genetic conditions that result in intellectual disability. She employs a community-based participatory research approach and various methodologies to engage stakeholders to improve school-to-work transition and ensure young adults with disabilities have the work-related social and job-readiness skills necessary to secure and maintain competitive, community-based employment. Her work has been funded by the Institute of Education Sciences and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
Her research has been published in journals such as Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, Autism, Journal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities, Journal of Intellectual Disability Research, Career Development and Transition for Exceptional Individuals, and Research and Practice for Persons with Severe Disabilities. She is the co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities.
