Graduate Assistant

Ryan D. Nowak is a PhD student studying education policy at Michigan State University. His research focuses on school choice, the political economy of school policy, and SPED classification – all of which aim to center justice in education. Prior to MSU, he studied at Bowling Green State University and the University of Oregon, where he pursued a similar research agenda. He has also worked as an instructor in high school and university settings, for coursework including general social studies, education and social change, curriculum theory, causal inference, and student leadership.

EPIC works with state and district partners to create a targeted research agenda to learn which reform strategies are most effective, where, when and for whom.
